Our Process

Introductory Meeting with CFP®

Our process begins with an introductory meeting with a Certified Financial Planner™.  There is no obligation or cost for this meeting, and its intent is to establish your needs and define the client-planner relationship.  We’ll run some brief calculations to get a general idea of your needs, explain how we work with our clients, and work with you to decide whether we are the right fit for each other.

Determining Your Financial Position

We gather data—a lot of it.  A financial plan is only as good as the assumptions it is based on, so making guesses when we don’t have to would be doing our clients a disservice.  We’ll ask you about your financial goals, and we’ll put real numbers to your current financial status as well as what you need it to be.  We feel these first two steps are often where some financial planners may stumble.

The Financial Plan

We’ll work with you to develop a written plan.  This will include a model showing what might happen without making any changes.  We’ll make recommendations and educate you on the alternatives you have available to you.  We’ll take into account everything from how investments may be taxed to where you may decide to live during your retirement.

Portfolio Management

We will help you to implement your plan.  Our affiliations allow us to research and provide a wide range of non-proprietary investment, insurance, and financial planning tools to fit your particular needs.  That said, you are not required to use our company for your investments, and some clients prefer to have a fee-only arrangement for advice only.

Monitoring Your Portfolio and Adapting Your Plan

We will help you to monitor our recommendations to make sure they are working, and we will make adjustments to your plan as appropriate.  This lets you focus on the things that are important rather than on researching alternatives.
